Sarang Bulan: The best Pancake in the Heart of Bongao

You may have tasted several pancakes in your entire life. Some of them are made by you. Did you know that one of the favourite street food in the heart of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi is a pancake? It is locally termed as Sarang Bulan.

The pancake is made from a mixture of flour, egg, sugar and butter. The most palatable part of the sarang bulan is the mid part. In that part, the pancake is half-cooked. In result, it will taste sweeter in the said part of the sarang bulan. Plus, sugar and crushed peanuts are also sprinkled in the said mid part - adding to the taste of the pancake.

Above are some of the famous sarang-bulan-bakers in Bongao.They have proven themselves through time. I can still remember when I was twelve, I used to buy from the woman above a sarang bulan. And that was like eight years ago already. Sarang bulan is a food for those who do not pick what to eat. Because of it's street food aura, many will not go for it. What they do not know is they are missing half of their lives for not getting a taste of one of the hit street foods of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
