BONGAO MARKET DURING RAMADHAN
9/17/2009 10:29:00 AMFJ HAMJA

Bongao is the commercial town of Tawi-Tawi. During Ramadhan, everybody is busy. The Tabuh or market is the busiest of all in Bongao.
People from around the town goes to tabuh to buy Tausug and Sama Confectioneries, fruits, vegetables, etc. You will find every confectionery at the tabuh during Ramadhan starting 3 o'clock in the afternoon until about 6 o'clock.
These photos are just some of the scenes you will find if you go to Bongao Market during the month of Ramadhan.

The pipor in Simunur are byutipur!!
Okay! The statement above may look as absurd as the one writing this, but I tell you, it is true. (ahem.) People in Simunul are really beautiful. You do not agree? Go to Simunul and see for yourself. haha.Simunul is a municipality in the province of Tawi-Tawi, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 31,962 people in 4,910 households. The language spoken is Sama. The first Muslims in the Philippines are said to have arrived at Simunul.
Simunul is an island with no mountain. If you are in Bongao, you will see Simunul when you are in Pasiagan. Simunul can also be viewed from the Capitol building. When you see a mountainless island, then that is it. ;)
There are 15 barangays in Simunul. They are as follows:
- Bakong
- Manuk Mangkaw
- Mongkay
- Tampakan (Pob.)
- Tonggosong
- Tubig Indangan
- Ubol
- Doh-Tong
- Luuk Datan
- Maruwa
- Pagasinan
- Panglima Mastul
- Sukah-Bulan
- Timundon
- Bagid

Located in Tubig Indangan is one of the oldest mosque in the Philippines, known as Sharief Karimul Makhdum Mosque. On the left is the picture of the old mosque. ;)

On the left is the new look of the mosque. It is worth the travel to see such beautiful places with beautiful and hospitable people as Simunul.
Note: If you are planning to go there, don't forget to bring umbrella. :D Enjoy traveling.

Who doesn't love the beach? I guess none. The beach is like one of the place where we unwind. It is a place of relaxation. To some, it is a paradise.
Tawi-Tawi has the best virgin beaches around. To think, you would not need to spend much to enjoy the beach. White sand beach? Every beach there has white sand.

But, the big but there is that, there are only few resorts. So, you'll have to end up
staying at a beach for a night only. Resorts are available at Bongao only. (That is why, many of the beaches are free. hahah) So, when you go to Tango, you'll have to make sure that you know people, the right people. So that they may offer their place to you when you pla
n of spending some time at the beach. :) It is quite good for an adventure, right??
